Press Release
For Immediate Release: Local Author Publishes Debut Novel
Homosassa resident Katherine Eddinger Smits announces the release of her novel, Water Dreams, published by Foundations, LLC June 6, 2016.
Water Dreams features Tarpon Springs, Florida, the author’s home town. Set in this Greek-American community, the book introduces Nik, a young woman of Greek heritage who has a water phobia. She meets handsome but arrogant Bas, who claims he belongs to a race of shape-shifting mermen and mermaids who call themselves Nerei. Worse, he claims Nik shares DNA with the Nerei, who need her help.
Nik battles tricky mermaids, her water phobia, recurrent nightmares, kidnappers and drug runners in this tale that reimagines the mermaid myth as a contemporary, paranormal romance with elements of suspense.
The book is available through the Foundations website, Amazon and other on-line retail outlets in digital, paperback and hardcover formats.
Katherine Eddinger Smits grew up in Tarpon Springs. She started telling stories in grade school, but put writing fiction on hold while she raised a family and enjoyed a satisfying career as a clinical social worker, helping veterans and their families. After she retired from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and her children left home, she started writing again. She lives with her husband in Homosassa, Florida and Falling Waters, West Virginia. This is her debut novel.
